Profitable Website: A Key Ingredient List

January 31, 2009

by Angie Sandy

The internet is a growing and booming medium for aspiring entrepreneurs. However with all of the competition, it takes a little more than a basic website to profit. To build a thriving and profitable website, youll need a few key ingredients.

Powerful Customer Experiences

One of the most important aspects of owning an online store is your customer experience. To the customer that means being able to find all of the information they need to make a purchasing decision.

Customers will want to read product descriptions, have shipping calculations be quick and easy and a FAQ page is a great way to take care of all those recurring questions.

For many customers, it also means feeling a sense of connection to the store. Frequent buyer programs help create that sense of community, however free content, superior customer service, a fun and friendly about us page as well as unified branding images like your logo, all help to tell customers who you are and what youre about.

Regular and Valuable Content

Any profitable website uses content to both draw traffic to the site and to keep them there. The trick for busy entrepreneurs is to manage all their content effectively and efficiently. A content management system or CMS is a great tool for busy business owners because it provides an organized system.

A CMS enables the user to manage the creation, modification, and removal of content from a Web site without needing the expertise of a Webmaster. This means you dont need to know any programming language to create your website. You can create, schedule, edit and remove pages without spending hours modifying HTML.

Simple Checkout

While a shopping cart may seem like a mere technicality to you, its an integral part of your customers experience. Customers need to know that their information and transaction is secure. They want to know all shipping and sales tax information right up front, and they want a system which lets them manage their cart with relative ease.

A good shopping cart system is imperative for a valuable customer experience and itll make your life easier too with simple reporting procedures and readily accessible sales information and a reasonable pricetag.

Search Option

Include a search function on your site and give your visitors and customers the ability to instantly find exactly what they need. For example, a pet store owner with this search feature on their website makes it easy for a prospect to find that dog coat theyre looking for. Forcing them to search throughout pages of items is a sure way to detract from their shopping experience.

Providing this functional search feature enhances your customers experience as well it provides you with valuable keyword data to incorporate into your marketing strategy and product line decisions.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Theres no doubt that SEO plays a critical role in driving website traffic and sales. Finding a website builder with integrated SEO systems is like finding a wining lottery ticket. Imagine being able to link and tag your content and website code without having to jump through hoops or learn a programming language.

Dont forget to include a sitemap in your website. Sitemaps will help you stay at the top of your search engine rankings by informing the search engines each time a change or addition is made to your website.

Personality

In the competitive world of online business, your branding strategy can certainly help set you apart from your competition. While a logo is important, think about the Nike swish or the colorful eBay lettering, for a small business owner your personality is a large part of your brand. Your personality can be reflected in the content and design on your website.

Not all website builders are the same. In fact some are downright difficult to use much less profit from. Make sure the website builder you choose not only provides all the features you need to create a powerful customer experience but also tools and features which make owning and operating a profitable website as quick and simple as possible.

Make Money Online by Sharing Business Ideas

January 31, 2009

by Nicole Dean

People all over the world are facing tough economic times. While it can be easy to get worried by financial woes like almost everyone else, you can instead chose to view our financial climate as a positive thing — an opportunity even.

How can a bad economy be a positive thing for you? While layoffs and downsizing are becoming a reality for a lot of people, those same people are now looking for ways to earn money – online, offline, cheap, and free. Because there are so many people searching for money-making ideas, this is a huge opportunity for you. You can provide legitimate money-making ideas for others and make money yourself.

Here are a few ways you can do that

Build a Blog or Website Community

Because people looking for money making ideas is such a hungry market already, you can very easily tap into that market and profit by creating a blog, website or online community. It’s very easy to find or come up with a wide range of business ideas people can use to start businesses, especially for those on a limited budget. By creating this internet community, you would be adding a valuable resource by giving your visitors a place where they can talk about business ideas.

Once you’ve created your site, you can generate income using several different methods. The easiest method would be to display advertisements through the Google AdSense program. Another way to make money would be by promoting other people’s products and collecting a percentage of the profits.

One other great way you can make money by sharing business ideas is to

Put Together Your Own Downloadable Product

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are made every day from people selling eBooks and downloadable audios online. One of the most popular types of eBooks is those about business ideas. Although it can be tough to promote an eBook in a popular market like “How to Start a Restaurant,” it’s very easy to create an eBook in a smaller market and dominate it.

It takes a bit of work upfront to create an eBook. First you need to brainstorm a good idea to write about. Once you have your idea, the next step is to spend time writing your eBook or recording an audio eBook. After your product is complete, then you can make a website or blog that’s designed to persuade your visitor to buy.

Of course, you’ll need to provide ongoing customer support for your products and continually promote (market) your website to generate sales.

One of the best things about selling a downloadable product is that you never have to ship or print anything. All your products are easy for your buyers to just download on to their computer.

However, if that sounds like a lot of work, an easier alternative is to

Sell Business Idea Products Through Affiliate Programs

Even if you don’t want to go through the process of creating your own product, you can still make a lot of money by selling other people’s products instead. Most other entrepreneurs who create products that teach how to start businesses have what’s called an “affiliate program.” These are programs that will pay you as much as 50% of the sale price when someone you refer buys a product.

The great thing about referral marketing (better known as “affiliate marketing”) is that you don’t need to make your own product, you don’t need to handle fulfillment, and you don’t need to handle customer support at all. All you need to do is send people to your specially encoded referral link. If you regularly are the type to tell friends about a great new restaurant, store, or product that you’ve tried and liked already — this could be the perfect way to make money online.

Simple Copywriting Trick

January 31, 2009

by John Anghelache

Gary Halbert was both a great copywriter and a great teacher of the art. He had a knack for making the process of creating great ads simple.

One of the things I learned from Gary is the importance of making things easy on yourself. For example, let’s say you want to write an ebook on losing weight.

What’s the best course of action?

Should you study weight loss science? Should you spend years doing clinical trials? Should you roam the world looking for the perfect diet plan or diet pill? Well not really. Because there is a much easier way to access the most cutting edge weight loss science, clinical trials and new diet breakthroughs. Without doing all the work yourself. Curious? Then listen to this.

Instead of doing things the hard way, Gary would recommend you go out and buy the top selling books and ebooks on dieting. Then you clam up in your office or the library and read. While reading jot down notes. Lots of them. And take out all of the unique, exclusive dieting tips, tricks and secrets in each of those best sellers.

Armed with this research you write your version of a health and fitness book. Only this book has all the great info from the other books you read. The exclusive details that bring value to your book. The end product is a book filled with the very best information on health and fitness.

That’s the way to do it.

You can do the same thing when creating advertising. In fact, this works great if you have to craft a sales message on the fly for any kind of media.

What we’re talking about here is referred to as swiping in advertising circles. The process simplifies everything for the ad writer. Halbert was big on swiping. He taught it during a copywriting seminar in the mid 1990’s. Almost the entire even was about the process of how to swipe to create your own profitable ads.

Look, if you don’t want to become a top notch copywriter and don’t have time to learn all the formulas, etc. then swiping is the way to go. All you have do is learn how to do it right.

Learn to swipe and life gets easier when preparing ads…

** You’ll eliminate writer’s block forever. Because now youll access a starting point for your ads. You wont be guessing at what to write. The swipes reveal exactly what to write in your ads to make them effective and responsive.

** Ad writing will be much faster. All you do is model your ad after the swipe. Therefore, the guessing element is taken out of the equation. It’s like using a proven template to write your ads.

** The effectiveness of your ad will increase. By using a proven template you boost your chances of writing a winning promotion. That’s why using swipes is such a powerful concept.

The moral of the story is: start swiping.

Where Can I Purchase Valentine Day Flowers

January 30, 2009

by Aurelia Fleur

There is much debate concerning the origin of Valentines Day. Some believe it began as a Greco-Roman holiday called Lupericalia. This holiday celebrated romantic love. Others claim it was inspired by a poem written by Chaucher. While it is fun to speculate about the origins of this holiday, it is more important to remember your lover on this day. A romantic gesture, such as a bouquet, is mandatory.

It is a common tradition to choose roses, the red one or the white, to be gifted to your loved ones on Valentines Day however selecting Valentines Day flowers are not so restricted. On studying the Victorian flower meanings the option for selection seems to be large and hence you can select beautiful and emotive types of Valentine’s Day flowers to make it special for your loved ones.

A person can make the choice to use petunia, stating that ‘Your presence soothes me’, or orange blossom which symbolizes marriage (very appropriate if you plan on proposes), or phlox which are that states that ‘Our souls are united’. You can also choose the beautiful lily which says your love is majestic, honorable and pure of heart – but you must be very careful because the orange lily also symbolizes hatred. The Spanish jasmine means sensuality, purple hyacinth seeks forgiveness, hibiscus is describe as the object of your affection as a sensitive beauty and states you are covered with love. White carnations is a symbol of pure love.

Just because you know what the and colors mean, that doesn’t mean that she will know, so you can send with the bouquet a short note explaining the meaning of each flower, and how it applies to your relationship. In addition you can send her favorite flower, no matter what the color or type. There are some flowers that have negative connotations associated with them, so you should avoid yellow chrysanthemum, for example, which stands for slighted love.

Valentines Day flowers are a great way to show the true feelings and emotions you have for your special someone. They should come from your heart and not because it’s expected by society. During the time before Valentine’s Day, sales prices for usually skyrocket because of high demand, and they are typically hard to get, if you are a last minute shopper.

It is usually much more romantic to deliver the flowers yourself, but if someone delivers a bouquet of roses to work it will give the person receiving them bragging rights. But the main thing is making sure your florist delivery is on time, for example, arriving on the 15th of February are likely to cause trouble, no matter what their meaning, rather then affection.

Blogging News Stories as They Happen

January 30, 2009

by Ian Pelham

Using blogs to document news stories as breaking news is an exciting yet controversial aspect of the blogging technology. One can blog almost instantaneously and update the news before it hits the regular web news or even television.

Unlike news delivered by these other media, news that appears on blogs does not have to travel through a series of editors and administrators before it reaches the public eye. This has some advantages, and some distinct disadvantages.

One of the most notable cases of news hitting a blog before appearing in other media took place in July 2005 when terrorism struck London.

Pictures were taken of the passengers at the scene and within an hour, they had hit the press. Such first-person accounts were seen by blog readers everywhere in an uncensored and personal way.

The crisis felt really immediate to those who saw those images spread directly from those who were involved in the crisis across the globe.

Blogging currently carries the potential of being a brand new form of journalism. It puts the power to shape the world in the hands of the average writer.

Many bloggers and cultural commentators who are champions of the weblog movement feel that this growing trend of individuals who getting their news from blogs is a good thing, because it makes the flow of information more democratic.

It decentralizes the world of news and allows more voices to debate on the issues at hand. Others, however, are just as adamant about not having this as a method of news dissemination.

There arent any fact checkers in the world of blogs and there is no journalistic accountability. This could lead to the spread of bad information. More than one piece of misinformation has been spread through this fashion.

Whether or not this is all ethical is very complex, but no matter how you feel about the subject, you must agree that this carries the potential to really change how the modern person gets his or her news.

If you are interested in blogging, consolidation, debt, and other financial topics are sure to appear in many of the blogs that you regularly read. Techniques to make and manage money are some of the most popular topics for bloggers to explore on the web, so it is little wonder that so many bloggers turn their attention to dealing with debt.

Falling into debt is all too easy, and getting out of debt can be very difficult for people who do not have a lot of financial expertise. For people who have a knack for dealing with finances, blogging about their insights and knowledge can be a great way to literally and figuratively share the wealth.

If you are trying to get into blogging, the topics of savings, debt, consolidation and investing topics are ones to consider blogging about. Many professional bloggers use advertising to blog every day about money and make a decent living off of it.

If you know how to court advertisers and build a blog fan base, you can make money just by talking about money.

When you share what you know, you may be able to aid your readers in the process of getting out of debt while you make money from selling advertising space.

Ecommerce retailers set to prosper during a recession

January 30, 2009

by Erwin James

This positive thought may be the result of a change within shopper behaviours, resulting from the recent economic difficulty: people turn to the internet for their shopping needs.

PriceGrabber.com(R) in a study on the impact of a tough economy on holiday shopping in its latest Consumer Behaviour Report shows that sixty-one percent of consumers expect to make a concerted effort to cut back this holiday season. Ninety-seven percent of survey respondents expect to do some shopping online this holiday season. Fifty-five percent plans to purchase more than half of their holiday gifts online this year, a 10 percent increase from last year. Thirty-seven percent say that online purchasing appeals to them because it is “easier to compare products and find the lowest price.” Twenty-four percent favour the “convenience of shopping anytime and anywhere.”

Past results from Forrester Research shows that 81 percent of online retailers surveyed reported that their e-commerce businesses were profitable in 2007. Because of this, the internet marketing bug seems to be spreading to more businesses. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) survey, 70.3 per cent of businesses today have a website.

This means more people are now able to make use of the internet as shopping means. Online shopping gives numerous advantages for shoppers, the chief of which is convenience. Internet gives consumers the ability to browse and compare product prices at any given time of the day, as online retail stores are open all the time, without leaving the comforts of their homes. It also gives the shoppers chance to buy as much as they could without worries on how to carry them, as online stores provide delivery services. No more worrying over parking spaces, falling in line, or crowded shops.

In UK, a study states that one of the reasons of the increase of online shopping rate came from users in their 40s and 50s, having more trouble accessing built shopping centres because transport is usually not as readily available to them, are starting to use the Internet for their own online shopping.

With the coming Christmas shopping rush, in spite of the spreading financial crisis, online retail stores’ sales continue to rise. Actually, according to Ed Garrubbo, chairman of the Electronic Retailing Association, the looming recession may actually contribute to e-commerce because cautious consumers are doing more research and comparison shopping online before making a big purchase.
