by Anson Hall

There is no doubt that you will want to make big money with affiliate marketing. And you will need to of course create your own website to this end.

However, it is also commonly known that driving traffic to a web site is always a difficult task. This is why so many webmasters are discussing about ways to drive traffic on the web everyday. The follows are some ideas for you to get some traffic to your affiliate site.

The first way is by blogging. You will write some interesting things. And then you will ink back to your site from the blog. As matter of fact, it does not only attract visitors to click the links to your site. It also helps to build more back links to your site so as to boost your ranking in the searching engine. However, this method will not be effective if you do not write new post on a regular basis. Normally you will need to write a new post everyday.

Forums are another place you can promote your affiliate site. To this end you have to remember that you are not spamming this forums. And you are not trying to do any advertising in these forums either. You in fact join the discussion in the forums. You will try to answer the questions of the members and of course you may also sometimes ask question. You will put a link to your site in the signature of your post so that people can visit your site when they feel interested.

By viral marketing you can also promote your affiliate. In fact it is one of the traditional way in marketing. In the context of website promotion, you will give away a free e-book. You will put some links in the e-book. When your readers start giving away your e-book, you will probably get a lot of new readers and visitors.

Places like MySpace and Facebook are other sources of driving. However, it may not work for every niche market. And you will need to test it yourself.

Affiliate marketers will also use article submission to promote their affiliate sites. They will try to write quality articles and put the links in the bio box. When the readers are reading the articles, they will click the links in order to learn more.

In order to succeed in affiliate, you have to drive tons of traffic to your site. The key is to think out of the box and you will certainly be successful.

How To Market Your Home Based Business Online

April 30, 2008

by Stephen Meyer

In order to build your home based business you will need to market it both online and offline. Here I will discuss marketing it online and what can produce the greatest benefit with the least cost. While there are many ways to promote your home based business through free advertising not all of those ways will be productive. Sometimes what looks to be the most productive way is actually the least productive?

Using Free FFA pages

These sites are known as FFA pages and often have members in the millions. They look very exciting because you can blast your advertisement to millions of people with one click. They make it easy to submit your site.

Adding your site to their add pages is very simple. You will have a 5 box submission form that ask for you Name, Email (not published in advertisement), Headline with limited number of words. Text box with limited number of words and a box for the URL you are promoting. Never use your main email client when submitting to the sites to avoid cluttering your normal email usage. Once you submit your add you can expect to receive hundreds to literally thousands of emails from members over the next few days.

When I first started advertising online I used FFA sites very often. I was excited over sending my advertisement to 10 million people or more. After a short time I realized it wasn’t benefitting me at all. When I received hundreds of emails through my alternate email server I never read them. I deleted them as quickly as possible. I realized the other members were simply doing the same thing and the effort was nearly pointless.

Using Traffic Exchange Sites

Traffic Exchanges offer the member a way to advertise for free to hundreds of people. They can be enjoyable to use because of the way they are setup. You must surf for advertising credits and each site is on a timer. You can’t go to the next site until the time is up or risk not gaining any credits. Many advertisements I’ve seen are nearly pointless because the advertiser has sent the visitors to a long sales page or a web site filled with to much information. Because the visitor is doing exactly what you are doing, surfing for credits they will not be on your page very long. They key to using these sites is first to have an attention grabbing headline and then the use of a Lead capture Page. The page has to have one focus, to gain the persons email address and name. Sell them on your idea as briefly as possible so that you can use your email program to actually sell the product. These pages are fun too use but there are more productive ways to spend your time.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is by far the number one way to promote your home based business. The good part is it can be done for free. Many people believe you must have a lot of skills to affectively write an article but that couldn’t further from the truth. It simply involves having knowledge about the subject you are writing about. If you can talk about a subject with your family and friends or can write an email you can also write an article. The benefits of Article writing are very long lasting. It’s common for website publishers to add articles to their web sites that were written many years earlier if the information is still applicable as it often is.

After you have written you submit your article to Article directories. There are some free tools available that can be found by doing a web search that make it easier to submit to multiple sites. Your submission is not the end of it. The Article directories will take your article and make it available to their members to publish on their sites. As time goes by your article can be found on hundreds of sites because directories will pass it on to other directories that in turn pass it on to their members. This creates valuable backlinks pointing to your web site that are used by search engines in evaluating your sites importance. The more back links the more importance and the greater your page rank. In building a home based business online this is the single most important factor you must have. Site rank means visitors and visitors mean sales.

Better Search Engine Ranking

April 29, 2008

by John Neyman

If you are setting up a website, follow these simple rules to improve search engine rankings of your site. You can also follow these techniques if your website is not ranked high in search engines for certain keywords. Concentrate on the home page of your site and once you learn the techniques, you will be able to apply them to the other pages of your site that will have multiple high ranking pages.

1. Find keywords (or key phrases) relevant to your website. Go to the overture keyword selector tool (type key phrase overture inventory in Google) and check the popularity of the keywords you want to use. Avoid highly popular keywords. Highly popular keywords are very competitive and the least popular keywords are search engine traffic starved.

Select a dozen keywords and key phrases from the middle of the list. This is a very important exercise and you should spend at least a couple of hours, if not more, researching different keywords. While you are researching your keywords, check your competitors by doing a search in a couple of popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc., using those keywords. Keep a record of your competitors’ urls and other information because you don’t want to waste your time doing the same search again in the near future.

2. Use the keywords you selected into the meta tags of your home page. Meta tags are located in the head section of a web page. Go to one of your competitor’s website and select View and then Source from your web browser’s menu to view the html source of the web page. You will see the meta elements.

The two important meta tags are keywords and description meta tags. Don’t leave them blank. You can list your keywords, separated by comma, in the keywords meta tag. Construct a catchy description using your keywords for the description meta tag.

3. Use the keywords in your title tag. The text you use in the title tag appears in the title bar of the web browser. The title tag should be less than 64 characters long. Again, the key is to use a meaningful title using the keywords. Don’t just make a laundry list of your keywords for the title tag.

The title tag and your meta description may end up in many search engine listings. So, spend sometime to make these two elements interesting, meaningful, and relevant to your site.

4. Use the keywords in top heading (h1) tags of your page. Use one keyword (or a key phrase) for each h1 tag. Use these h1 tags for the headings of your contents.

5. In the home page content, use bold, using the strong html element, to highlight some of your keywords.

6. Italicize some of the keywords in your page.

7. Use the keywords in alt tags of images. You should always use the alt tag for all images.

8. Encourage others to use the keywords for text anchors when they link back to your site. Better yet, publish your own short link text with keyword anchors, bold and italicized key phrases and give it away for link exchanges.

9. If possible, use the keywords in your domain name. Try different arrangements of the keywords to come up with an available domain name that you can register.

10. If you are using php or asp or any other web programming language for your dynamic website, make your url search engine friendly using url rewrite techniques. Search the phrase url rewrite in Google to know more about url rewrite.

Keep in mind these simple rules every time you want to launch a website. Spending a few days upfront in the preparation of your site will pay off in the long run with better search engine rankings.

Looking For A Web Host? Here’s What To Look For.

April 29, 2008

by Lucas Heijn

When you set up a new business you would need to make decisions as to the size shop or building required as well as what equipment you will need. A similar rule would apply in moving from one location to another

If you’re are planning to start a business or have a business going and plan to move to new premises you would spend some time in looking at what is available, and what is suitable. You need to do the same in choosing a web host. There are certain things you need to make sure you have.

How much disk space do you need on the server?

How much space (disk space) do you need? Here it is wise to get whatever you can afford. Most websites will run on just a few MB. You need to find out if you can upgrade without difficulty. If you plan to run a membership site with lots of downloads, you will need more than 500MB. You will find that there are plenty of web hosting providers that offer up to 1GB or more for very reasonable rates.

What is Bandwidth?

Basically it is the uploading and downloading from your site. Each time a visitor comes to your site, their computer requests the information your site contains. Your site now appears on the visitors computer. This information has appeared on your visitors computer because their computer has downloaded the information. This downloading is measured and is called bandwidth. The more bandwidth you have the more visitors you can have without having to pay extra. You should always be able to upgrade to a larger package and get more. Some companies also offer unlimited accounts.

Will You Require A Database?

The short answer is yes. In fact you will need to make sure that you can run several databases. There are many web applications that have need of a database to run. Let’s say you want to have a Blog on your site. You could download the free script from Wordpress. To set it up it you need a database. There are numerous applications that necessitate databases that you should consider at least getting 5 or 6 available as a bare minimum.

Which Control Panel?

There are a number of diverse ones used by hosting companies. There are two that stand out for simplicity of use. You need to be able to easily know how to use them. The two I like best are Direct Admin and cPanel. Both are first-rate. Many webmasters avow cPanel. I personally prefer Direct Admin better, I think it is the easiest to utilize. The control panel is where you work at the back of your site. Here you will be able to set up email accounts, new databases and much more.

Some Other Things You Should Expect

Just as you would need to decide what equipment you needed, these decisions are also made in choosing your hosting provider. Some hosting companies also provide on-line browser based software you can use to create your site. This software will allow you to create your site from scratch or use a template that may suit you needs. With some this software is so powerful that you can create dynamic sites using PHP. All this without knowing HTML or PHP.

Some hosts also provide a members area with marketing information and free downloads. Many of these down loadable products could be useful in setting up your new site.

Location is everything. At the start of this article I mentioned location. Your web host is not responsible here. Location is completely up to you. You create the location by SEO (Search Engine Optimization). There are many things you can and need to do to increase the traffic to your site. This is another subject we will deal with at a later date.

Smart Marketing, Don’t Throw Your Money Away

April 29, 2008

by Stephen Meyer

A few weeks ago I decide to join another marketing program to build my income. The plan is solid and the opportunity to achieve my goals is there. I’m happy with the program and what it has to offer. Unfortunately I’m not very happy with my progress. Being new at this particular program but not new at marketing I didn’t pay very much attention to the details. In particular, the marketing plan.

I’ve seen my share of advertising and marketing companies who offer nothing of any real value. Unfortunately when it comes to Home Based businesses there is more than a fare share of nearly worthless programs. Most wanting to take money out of the pockets of unsuspecting newbies without offering any real value in return.

There are many other programs available to help the newbie grow his business. Often these programs promise to make them wealthy in a short period of time. Mentoring programs are on the top of the list. While there are a few that will actually produce very good results if the new marketer stays with the program long enough. Most simply do not provide quality results.

Although I looked into mentoring programs for my new Affiliate adventure and spent some money on a couple of them they proved to be pointless. Affiliate Marketing is not a Niche market and can not be worked as one.

Although I think I know it all it turned out I am a very slow learner. I’ve been getting what seems like a million emails all from companies I’ve spent money on and worse yet, one’s I simply inquired about. The email campaigns are ruthless. They are also ineffective because I’m not interested, but they send them anyway. So I religiously as if it is a duty quickly delete the emails and empty the trash.

Being the hard learner that I am I also deleted the emails from the program I signed up as an Affiliate with. I tend to learn the hard way so I decided to take a look at some of the emails, from my new program. What I found was all my searching was a big waste of time because the new program I signed up for not only has a great Affiliate program that can produce pay checks if done correctly it also has a plan teach you how to make money with the program. What to do and how to do it was right in front of my face the entire time.

I have looked at many marketing programs over the years and almost all of them have a marketing strategy in place. I’ll admit that some of them are very weak and won’t really produce like most want but they are there anyway.

I’ve know this for a long time but foolishly looked for a better way, my own way, to market the program. Unfortunately to many new Affiliates do the same thing and often times waste more time and money than I did. Online advertising and marketing holds many traps that new people can easily fall into if they are not taught correctly from the start. It’s simply too easy to spend large amounts of cash thinking a fortune will be made.

Many online companies have been around for many years and are experienced in promoting their business. Many of the newer companies have been started by people who have been in the online business for years and have a lot of experience to offer. They all want their company to succeed and they know their success depends on the success of their representatives. Most offer top notch marketing strategies and products that will not only build their company but they will also build yours. Your company needs to be the first place you look for successful marketing ideas.

I Found This Information Packed Article Marketing Site

April 29, 2008

If you’re looking for a great selection of articles on the art and science of article marketing I have a great site for you and it has some excellent resources. The articles on the site are written by people who use article marketing to make money online everyday.

I use article marketing pretty heavily myself and have had great success with it. In fact, it is one of the few online marketing methods that I have found that is always effective. The challenge that most people have with article marketing and even those people who are experienced is consistency. To tell you the truth I don’t wake up every day inspired to write a ton of articles to promote my sites. I sometimes find riding especially in volume, can get to be quite tedious. I try to break it up to make it as much fun as possible and you should do the same as well.

One of the key things to remember about article marketing is that it is not necessarily designed to give you instant gratification. That’s not to say that sometimes the results don’t happen quickly after you submit an article to an article directory. The key is to look at every article that she write as a long-term investment. Once you start writing on a regular basis you will see results on a regular basis. If you write sporadically then of course you already know the answer, you will receive sporadic results.

All before forget there is a site I was telling you about http://www.effectivearticlemarketing.com

Topic: Article Marketing – Ensure marketing copy is 'interesting & relevant' – Brafton

April 28, 2008

Louise Rijk, vice-president of sales and marketing at Advanced Media Productions , made her remarks in an article for the Worcester Business Journal, urging firms to ensure they have copywriting plans before launching such a campaign. Furthermore, Ms Rijk explained, while it is vital marketers use a catchy subject line to attract readers, they should avoid the sorts of headings typically used by spammers. Earlier this month, Glenn Edelman, vice-president of marketing at Wine Enthusiast Companies, told the Internet Retailer that the subject line of an email can "make or break" the success of a campaign. He suggested that as recipients often make snap judgments about whether or not they want to read a message, the quality of a subject line is vital. read more
