Ebay’s Big Feedback System Change
January 29, 2008
Ebay made a gigantic change in it’s feedback system today by not allowing Ebay sellers to leave Ebay buyers negative feedback of any kind.
If you have been an Ebay seller for any length of time I’m sure that you’ve seen the writing on the wall. Ebay wants to cater to buyers as much as possible.
Ebay states that the feedback system was designed to be and honest and accurate record of it’s member’s experiences. The truth is that the Ebay feedback system may have had good intentions theoretically, but in the real world it provided more of an illusion of a mutually safe marketplace for buyers and sellers.
This is not to say that there are not fabulous buyers and sellers on Ebay…there most certainly are. It is simply to say that the feedback system was inherently flawed because it does not accurately reflect the member experiences. The feedback system is constantly manipulated by both buyers and sellers and no one wants to give or get negative feedback.
Ebay sellers can expect the number of deadbeat and fraudulent buyers to multiply.
The unfortunate results is that the woefully inadequate and already flawed Ebay feedback system has now taken a turn for the worse…or maybe Ebay has really thought this through more that is apparent. We will just have to wait and see.
ERP system alone isn’t enough to compete in this e-business age – Hindu
January 29, 2008
Tangible benefits include inventory reduction, inventory carrying-cost reduction, reduction of lead-time, manpower reduction, cycle-time reduction, productivity improvements, other management improvements, financial close cycle reduction, IT cost reduction, procurement cost reduction, cash management improvements, revenue/profit improvements, reduced quality costs, improved resource utilisation, transportation/logistics cost reduction, maintenance reduction, and on-time delivery improvements. Thus, due to the efforts of ERP vendors to make the ERP packages easier to deploy and customise, the availability of experienced consultants for implementation, and the increasing awareness among companies about the need and importance of ERP systems, we find that ERP implementation projects are getting completed faster. ERP implementation time depends on a variety of factors like the implementation scope (full installation or only some modules), package selected, implementation team, implementation methodology (big-bang, phased, or process-line), organisational culture, attitude of the employees, management commitment, and support. As more and more companies are joining the ERP bandwagon and as the ERP vendors are bringing out new, improved and complex products that integrate ERP with other technologies, almost all ERP related skills are in short supply. read more
